Red Brass Point

Brass Points are available in two types, red and yellow brass and in two widths, 0.9 mm (thin) and 2 mm (wide). Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc; the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties.

Red Brass Point is made from brass alloy wire. Available in two widths, the wide point (2 mm diameter) is shaped on both ends, a cone on one end and a bevel on the other end. The thin point (0.9 mm) is shaped to a cone only on one end. All points measure 5 cm (2 inches) in length.

Red brass, also known as gunmetal, is actually a type of bronze—typically an alloy of copper, tin and zinc. Originally used chiefly for making guns, red brass was eventually superseded by steel. It casts and machines well, and is resistant to corrosion from steam and salt water. Aurum Red Brass is 230 Brass produced from a combination of copper (85%) and zinc (15%). As the name would imply, this material is slightly reddish in color.

Yellow Brass Point is made from cartridge brass alloy wire. Available in two widths, the wide point (2 mm diameter) is shaped on both ends, a cone on one end and a bevel on the other end. The thin point (0.9 mm) is shaped to a cone only on one end. All points measure 5 cm (2 inches) in length.

Yellow brass is an American term for brass composed of about 33% zinc. Aurum Yellow Brass is C260 Cartridge Brass produced from a combination of 70% copper and 30% zinc. Among yellow brass, it has the highest ductility and has an attractive smooth, yellow brass finish. The high zinc content of C260 gives it the optimum combination of strength and ductility while maintaining the high formability of copper. It has excellent cold workability and is used extensively in the automotive industry, also in the manufacturing of plumbing, hardware, and ammunition.
